The Ardèche, to (re)discover!

Between mountains and cliffs, gorges and caves, natural beaches of stones or sand… the Domaine des Blachas will be your starting point to many trips like to the Grotte Chauvet 2, a real global jewel. For the fans of sensations and sportive activities, the Ardèche will be the perfect playground with canoe trips on the river or mountain bike spots.

The Gorges de l'Ardèche

Remarkable site due to the quality of the landscape, the variety and the richness of natural, historical and prehistorical heritage, the Gorges de l’Ardèche and its plateau attract a lot of visitors eager to discover, to escape and to be active in nature. The Gorges de l'Ardèche, le Pont d'Arc and bank of Dent de Rez are respectively classified naturel site, classified site and a biotope protected zone by order of the prefect.

The prehistory

Many caves are open to the public in the Ardèche; they are among the most beautiful in France. In particular the site l'Aven d'Orgnac and the prehistorical estate, they show you the prehistorical occupation by our ancestors about 30 000 years before our era. The caverne of Pont d'Arc, discovered in 1994 near the Domain is the most ancient one, it’s closed for the public, but a splendid replica is now open for everyone, the Grotte Chauvet 2.

Lovely villages

Not far from the Domain, you will discover Bessas, a flowery village, often awarded, on a hill at 280m height. It dominates the region, with stunning views over the department Grad, Vaucluse till the Mont Ventoux. Then we have Lagorce, a small medieval hilltop village on a rocky spur, its guides will let you discover the unique natural and cultural heritage during the visits, in particular about the silkworm. Other must-visit villages are: Labastide de Virac, Vagnas, Bidon, Sampzon, Salavas, Saint-Remèze, Orgnac-l'Aven...

The events

In May: Dog celebration (Orgnac-l'Aven), Flowers celebration (Salavas), Olive celebration (Vallon Pont d'Arc)... In July: Furnace celebration (Salavas), Lavender celebration (Vallon Pont d'Arc), the many night markets (Salavas, Barjac et Vallon Pont d'Arc), Book celebration (Lagorce). You can even walk over the regional markets in Salavas and nearby villages (every day during the summer season). Every Tuesday evening, in July and August, night markets at Vallon, but also in Salavas on some Monday evenings.
